The Metlakatla First Nation is set to show off the latest feature for the community across the harbour from Prince Rupert, with Friday the day for the Grand Opening of the community's new Sports Court.
The event which takes place from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM will include a lunch courtesy of the Prince Rupert Port Authority, the Port has partnered with the First Nation in the past on initiatives.
Most recently with the renewal and reopening of the Metlakatla Wilderness Trail which came this past Spring.
The Governing Council is also making sure that those on the Rupert side of the harbour can make it over to take part with Charter Ferry sailings in place departing from the Metlakatla Dock Below the Crest at 11:30AM, the Return trip comes at 2:30 PM
The Sport court makes for a much anticipated addition to recreation facility resources in the community, Metlakatla also features a Community Hall, Baseball Field and Skateboard Park those latter two elements were introduced in 2013-14.
