Prince Rupert's season of Hauting gets underway Friday

With just seven days to go until the trick or treaters make their rounds of the communities of the North Coast, the festival of haunting is set to start this week, with a number of spooktacular events to take in.


The Ghoulishly good times get under way Friday at the Nisga'a Hall with what has become a much anticipated Halloween tradition from the youth of the Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Society.

With the group set to host their Halloween Party featuring the always entertaining Haunted House, the haunting of the House to start at 6 PM

Games and activities also take place in the Main Hall, all for a five dollar entry fee

The Hall Canteen will also be open to help with any fuelling that may be required  for the festivities.

Saturday the scene shifts out to Port Edward and another North Coast favourite the Terror at the Cannery with four hours of Howling Halloween fun from 11 AM to 3 PM at the North Pacific Cannery site.

The day featuring the legendary Cannery Haunted House, as well as a Craft Fair and Food Truck delights.

Sunday ghostbusters, zombies and such will be making their way to the Prince Rupert Cow Bay waterfront and the Prince Rupert Port Authority's  Let The Ghoul Times Roll event at the Port Interpretive Centre.

There is a range of family friendly events planned for the event which takes place from 2-4 PM

The Big Event to put a wrap on the Season of Witches, Warlocks and other entities comes Tuesday, with Hallowe'en fest taking over the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.

The annual event celebrates it's 36the edition of Costumes, Candy Games and Fireworks, with the doors to the Civic Centre opening at 6 PM, the Costume Parade comes at 6:15 PM followed by the annual fireworks with Mount Hays as the backdrop, the show goes ahead at 8:15 PM.

The event is put together through the hard work of the Halloween Fest Society.

The Earl Mah Aquatic Centre also is on on the Hallowe'en fun, with a number of special swim events through the weekend.
