Weather Warnings to the West, Weather Warnings to the East, Weather Warnings to the South ... while Prince Rupert can anticipate rain and wind over next 48 hours

Weather alerts abound for much of the North Coast and
Haida Gwaii with the exception of Prince Rupert for the moment

A Pacific frontal system is making for some Weather Warnings around the North and Central Coast but so far nothing for Prince Rupert from Environment Canada.

Coastal regions and Haida Gwaii were issued a Wind Warning  early Tuesday morning, noting of strong Southeasterly winds to come with gusts of up to 110 km/h

For the North Coast Inland areas, particularly the Kitimat region, the Rainfall Warning is related to up to 70mm of heavy rain to arrive today and carry through to Wednesday

Prince Rupert is still in store for a wet and windy day starting early this evening an carrying overnight into Wednesday. The storm's arrival will be more of a wind event, with Winds from he Southeast at 50 to 70 km gusting at times to 100km. Rainfall by the time the system passes likely totals 50mm

Improving conditions will arrive Wednesday morning.

The powerful weather maker is also delivering a STORM WARNING for marine areas of the North Coast/Haida Gwaii

The approaching storm is one that left Vancouver Island saturated with rain and a number of power outages through the day on Monday.

As we noted over the weekend, in anticipation of the weather system from the Southeast, BC Ferries has revised its sailing schedule into today.

We will update our weather notes should Environment Canada change the alert status for the Prince Rupert area.

Notes on past weather events can be reviewed here.
