A correspondence to the District of Port Edward from the City of Prince Rupert indicates that the planning for the 2025 convention of the North Central Local Government Association is in motion, with the city reaching out to both the District and Regional District towards a shared approach to the event.
The update for the Port Edward officials came as part of the Agenda for their October 10th Council Session.
This summer, Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond observed of the enthusiasm of the NCLGA to come to the city to learn more about issues here, as well as the ever expanding footprint of Port development.
The Mayor noting in August that the City would be hosting the 2025 convention, that decision came out of a Closed session for the council membership.
North Coast Regional District also discussed the topic in August.
Prince Rupert Council sent a delegation to the NCLGA event Dawson Creek this spring, upon their return they provided a snap shot of the kind of activities that go into such an endeavour.
North Central Local Government Association explains its mission as "The elected voice of Northern and Central British Columbia".

The 2024 convention is scheduled for the Bulkley Valley in 2024, with some job opportunities towards it already posted to the Smithers civic website.
