City calls halt to Property disposition plans in Cow Bay Road area

Work continues on a staircase and additional parking for
First Avenue East, but plans by the City of Prince Rupert
 to sell off some property have come to a halt.

A proposal first floated in the early summer months has come to a quiet end, with the City of Prince Rupert announcing on Monday, that it's plans for the sale of a portion of property located on Cow Bay Road  are now off.

The land in question, which is currently used for parking was the subject of some push back from local merchants in the area following the roll out of the property disposition plans.

Part of that original proposal tied into the property disposition had included the construction of a temporary parking lot along George Hills Way, a project that it seems will also be in hibernation following yesterday's news.

In their advisory from Monday the City notes that they will continue on with plans towards development of additional parking in the area, something that they highlighted a few weeks back with a few details towards parking on 1st Avenue East atop the bluffs above Cow Bay.
