Wherever you travel in Prince Rupert you will find a Road Closed sign along the way |
From the West side to the East, wherever you travel in Prince Rupert these days, you're likely to find a road closed sign and a need to adjust your course to reach your destination.
The road work is a result of the ongoing work to repair the city's water infrastructure issues, which have been making for a never ending game of whack a mole for the city's work crews.
The city now a collection of neighbourhoods connected mostly by detours and rerouted travels.
Below is a photo essay of just a few of the active (in most cases) work sites around the city this week.
Work on Kootenay at McKay has closed the road and the nearby dog park |
Access to Cow Bay needs a work around as Third Avenue East is closed for work |
The progress of repairs for Frederick Street appears to be on pause with a giant pile of gravel awaiting its home |
7th Avenue East is the latest excavation site for City workers, the work on the road to Seal Cove means that Prince Rupert Transit has shortened the route until completion |
Of course the longest running project is up on Crestview Drive, where the residential neighbourhood has been cut in half at Applewaite for close to one year now, the water line issues on the east side marking the start of Prince Rupert's year of never ending repairs.
You can keep up with all of the road closure advisories from the City's Social media stream or the City of Prince Rupert mobile app.
