PRYSA Indoor plans gain additional support from Trigon

The push towards creating an indoor soccer space in Prince Rupert is moving ahead and part of that momentum is coming thanks to some financial assistance from Trigon, through the shipping terminals Community investment program.

In an announcement from yesterday, the Prince Rupert Youth Soccer Association outlined the scope of the 12,000 dollar investment from the local industrial company that will go towards the goal of developing an indoor space at the City's Rushbrook warehouse facility.

Towards a preview of what's ahead, the North Coast Review contacted Charles Cook the President of the PRYSA for an update on how Project Ts'mtsaaw.

He outlined a busy few months just passed of grant writing, securing donors and working with architects, the City of Prince Rupert and contractors to keep their momentum moving forward.  From all of that behind the scenes activity, the PRYSA is hoping for a debut in their space by January, providing no delays pop up towards their ambitious timeline.

The City of Prince Rupert could soon be leasing more of its
indoor space at the Rushbook Warehouse facility.

As they continue their work to develop a permanent home and what would be a welcome addition to the local sports scene, the PRYSA is also putting the final touches to their 2023-24 Futsal season, that indoor project will once again make use of School District 52 facilities.

The PRYSA hopes to once again make use of Conrad Elementary for their fall and winter indoor soccer project, with anticipation of over 200 youngsters participating.

The program will feature ten age groups. Five for the girls, and five for the boys.

The PRYSA is looking to have  registration open by the first week of October.

As they note,  all of their programs are volunteer driven, so they are letting our parents know that they are looking for at least 33 volunteers for Futsal.

For those who are interested in volunteering, you can access their volunteer hub here.

Each Futsal group will require two Grassroots Certified coaches, and one coordinator. PRYSA notes that they do require our coaches to be grassroots certified and that they reimburse parents for the cost of those credentials.

You can keep up with all the developments from Youth Soccer in Prince Rupert from their website and  the PRYSA Social Media stream.

  1. Thanks again for your coverage, as always it is appreciated!

We would like to clarify our timeline.

Barring any delays, we hope to finalize a lease by January and be operational by mid spring.
