The local organization that advocates for business in the Prince Rupert region has reviewed and commented on the recent Federal announcement on extensions to deadlines for repayment to the Canada Emergency Business Account.
And from their look over of the government's plan, the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce has found some positives from it, along with some areas of concern that need to be addressed out of the Prime Ministers talking points to the topic.
As we outlined on Friday, Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach had provided for the first of the responses to the Federal moves from the Northwest; noting that the while the provision of an additional year for repayment was a welcome move, the issue of loan forgiveness is still an area that needs to be explored further by the Federal Government.
The Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP and other members of the NDP in Ottawa have made additional supports for the business community a major part of their House of Commons work in the last year.
In a late Friday information release delivered by social media, the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce echoed some of those concerns, noting how they will continue to work collaboratively with their partners, including MP Taylor Bachrach and the BC Chamber of Commerce, to ensure that the voices of the local business community are heard.
