The latest statistics from the Northern BC Real Estate Board provide welcome news for Realtors and those looking to sell their homes, as the number of properties sold in the last six months have almost doubled from that of last year.
Prince Rupert's real estate numbers found that 153 properties worth $33.2 million dollars had been reported sold through the MLS system in the first six months of this year, that compared to but 83 properties that had sold by this time last year.
The median price of 114 single family homes sold was listed at $173,000, on average those homes took 116 days to sell.
As of June 30th, there were 222 properties of all types for sale in the Prince Rupert region.
The North Coast is not the only hot spot on the real estate map at the moment, both Terrace and Kitimat saw increases in sales in the first half of 2013.
Terrace recorded total sales worth 39.7 million, while total sales in Kitimat provided for 26.9 million dollars.
Across Northern BC, the averages provide for an average price of a home of $255,410 up six percent from last year, the overall dollar value of all homes in Northern BC was 106.5 million up five percent over a year to year basis. Further stats on Northern BC real estate can be found here.
