Pacific Northwest LNG submits export application with NEB

Another step forward in the development of the LNG industry for the North Coast today, with word that Pacific Northwest LNG has filed an export application with the National Energy Board.

Their application calls for a licence to export up to 19.68 million tonnes of LNG per year for 25 years beginning in 2019.  The export of LNG would be made from a facility to be constructed on Lelu Island, pending the necessary approvals required and upon final confirmation of a go ahead from the company.

Pacific Northwest  LNG advised in their press release today that they are working towards reaching a final decision on that investment by late 2014, if moving forward it would represent an investment of some 9 to 11 billion dollars, creating 3500 jobs during construction and 200 to 300 permanent full time jobs upon completion.

The application was heralded by the Provincial Government as a welcome development in the plans to develop the natural gas sector and expand market access through the Gateway of the North Coast.

The application by Pacific Northwest LNG marks the sixth such application made by would be exporters of LNG in Northwest British Columbia.
