Blog Watching week ending June 14, 2015


LNG developments competed with social issues this week, with the plan from the City to create a rainbow coloured crosswalk for the Cow Bay area finally grabbing the most attention on the news listings over the last seven days.

LNG issues held their own int he number count as well however, with the latest news from the Pacific NorthWest LNG file finding a large audience eager to learn more about their Conditional Investment decisions.

Likewise, interest was high in an update from Aurora LNG which also provided for good returns on our daily count.

Also catching the attention of our readers on the week, the strange case of golf balls raining down on the BC Ferry loading area and parking lot, as well as a desire to learn more about the plans from Northwest Community college as they hire on a new VP and look to increase enrolment in the fall.

However, by far the story that engaged the most interest and provided for a bit of commentary along the way over the last seven days, was the plan to create a Rainbow coloured crosswalk in the Cow Bay district of the City.

Prince Rupert's Rainbow Crosswalk one step closer to approval  -- Our preview of  last Monday's City Council session, with the topic of the Cow Bay crosswalk on the Agenda provided for the largest views of the week and a few comments to go with it. And while it didn't crack the Top five, our follow up item on the Council session which adopted the motion gained a large volume of readers as well  (posted June 8, 2015)

Vancouver discussions this week could bring Conditional Investment Decision for Pacific NorthWest LNG project  -- The advance look at the Vancouver meeting for Petronas officials found a good audience, as did our early Friday morning update on the Conditional Investment announcement from the energy company.    (posted June 10, 2015)

Aurora LNG delivers Spring update on Digby Island LNG Terminal proposal  --  A look at the latest items of interest from the Chinese led Aurora LNG project, which has delivered an update on their work to their local website.   (posted  June 8, 2015)

Someone has a nasty slice and BC Ferries has the evidence   --   Someone engaged in cliff golfing from the Graham Avenue area is in the bad books with both BC Ferries and the RCMP (posted  June 3, 2015)

NWCC hires new VP for Education, Student Development and International recruitment  -- The community college for the region hires a new VP and turns its focus to building up enrolment for the fall with a plan to attract more foreign students as well as those in BC   (posted June 10 , 2015 )
