A night of music and dancing this weekend marking the third anniversary of the publication of the book Gumboot Girls will be used as a fundraising event for the Prince Rupert Transition House.
The events of Saturday night fall under the title of Dance Your Hearts Out and are set for Raffles Inn from 8 until 1AM, with Ted Keehn's Surfer Dudes providing the tunes to go with the above mentioned dancing.
Tickets for the evening go for 10 dollars and can be purchased at Eddie's News or by any of the Gumboot Girls around town.
The book which was published in 2012 traces the path of the Girls to Prince Rupert of almost half a century ago, following the lives of the thirty four young women who moved away from urban areas in the 1970's and settled along the North Coast and Haida Gwaii.
While you're picking up your tickets at Eddies for Saturdays event at Raffles, you can probably find a copy of the review of life on the North Coast on one of the shelves of the book store.
The Gumboot Girls remain a strong presence on the North Coast and you can keep up to speed on some of them through a Facebook page, which this week features a number of notes on Saturday's Dance.
