It will be the Boys in Blue taking on the Boys in Boots, the Fuzz vs the Flame Fighters, the Bucket Brigade and the Badges ... however you want to describe it, what has become a popular Prince Rupert tradition is set to take to the ice this Friday, as the 8th annual Guns and Hoses Hockey Game takes to the ice at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.
The Butch Duffy Memorial Charity Hockey Game continues to grow year after year, with high tempo hockey on display, featuring the local Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue department taking on the Prince Rupert Detachment of the RCMP (with both teams calling in a few ringers along the way), the two squads providing the backdrop to popular evening of fundraising in the community.
This year it's the Special Olympics that will benefit from the on ice action, with fans in attendance also in the running for a number of door prizes from local businesses and services, as well as the always popular 50/50 draw.
The annual match up between the RCMP and Fire Department has proven to be a popular night out and one which provides strong support to the designated charity each year. Puck drop Friday night is 7:30 PM at the Jim and if past years are an indication, arriving early is a good strategy as the rink fills up fast.
