The Prince Rupert Port Authority hosts its Annual Public Meeting next week |
A review of the past year and a glimpse into some future plans will be on the agenda for next week as the Prince Rupert Port Authority hosts its Annual Public Meeting at the Crest Hotel.
The annual event is one of the more anticipated of public engagement sessions, at times making news in the past as the Port delivers more background on some of the projects that are being considered for the region, or make announcements related to community investment projects for the region.
The June 23rd event takes place in the BC Room at the Crest hotel with a start time of 4:30 PM, allowing for the opportunity for the public to discuss the performance and development activities of the last year and hear more about the upcoming initiatives.
The Annual review provides a fairly instructive look at the impact that Port operations have on the community, as well as to the growing reputation that the Port has cultivated in the world shipping industry as more and more companies explore what Prince Rupert has to offer when it comes to the shipment of goods and resources.

Another area that may receive some special attention at this years gathering will be the Port's vision for the Cow Bay lands that they recently acquired from the City of Prince Rupert, the thumbnail sketch of that development plan was delivered to City Council earlier this year, an update on the progress and any new concepts that might be in mind could make up a portion of the information session next week.
As well, reviews of some of the major terminals in the region such as the Westview pellet terminal, Prince Rupert Grain and Ridley Terminals could make for part of the afternoon presentation.
The financial picture of the port is also something that will make for an overview, with the 2015 financial statements available for the public at the meeting, those statements are also available at the Port Authority office in Cow Bay and make it to the port's website following the Annual gathering.
The June 23rd session is open to all members of the public.
