One of the most popular events on the North Coast running calendar is almost here, with runners from across the Northwest making their way to Prince Rupert for the start of the Skeena River Relay on Saturday.
The 142 kilometre relay features five to ten person relay teams embarking on a challenging run along some of the most remarkable scenery to be found in British Columbia, or elsewhere where runners take to the asphalt.
The 2016 competition has already seen the 30 available team spots fill up long before this weekends starting gun, though if any of the participating teams in Saturday's event need some help you can find out how to offer your time from the Skeena River Relay website.
Runners take to the road at 7 AM and motorists travelling along Highway 16 through the day on Saturday are reminded to be watching for those taking part and to slow down as you travel through some of the staging areas for the run to Terrace.
The Skeena River Relay is the fourth of the major North Coast based runs on the 2016 schedule, following this weekend only the September Cannery Road Race through Port Edward to the North Pacific Cannery Historical site will remain on the calendar for this year.
