The familiar blue tail of the Hawkair fleet is fading from view around the Northwest |
Central Mountain Air, the parent company of Hawkair outlined its plans on September 7th, noting that the Terrace-Vancouver route had become very competitive and that the Hawkair run was not meeting with the load or revenue expectations that the company had hoped for.
CMA did offer up one alternative for those that fly out of Terrace, noting that their Terrace to Prince George flight does offer connections to Vancouver, as well as Kamloops and Kelowna.

The move to discontinue the Hawkair option out of Terrace follows a similar decision to suspend the Prince Rupert to Vancouver flight last year by Central Mountain Air, that left Prince Rupert with only one airline, Air Canada, which flies in and out of the Digby Island airport.
Hawkair also suspended its Smithers to Vancouver service in 2015.
The announcement of this month will add to the list of recent changes in aviation services to affect the Terrace/Kitimat airport.
Only a few years ago, the departures and arrivals board in Terrace had seen significant increases as WestJet arrived on the Northwest scene and Air Canada responded to the challenge.
Since then however there have been a number of reversals in recent months, as both the Northwest economy and events in Alberta saw flight options reduced out of the Terrace airport.
