A new information service has been launched in Northwestern British Columbia allowing you to FETCH a range of service options available in the region |
A new online searchable database is now in operation, created through the consultation with the Pacific Northwest Division of Family practice and designed to bring Northwest resident access to important contact information available in their community in a number of categories.
The service is called Pacific Northwest FETCH and offers up contact for health, community programs and local support organizations. The Northwest version of the service is the first to include an interactive map on its front page to allow for a quick search of the resources that are available across the Northwest region from Houston to Haida Gwaii.
The program was created by the collection of local physicians who had identified that many of their patients were uncertain as to which programs were available in their communities.
"The number of programs available in our communities is remarkable and we hope this website will allow residents to be able to connect more easily to local resources and supports that will be helpful to them and their families," -- Dr. Geoff Appleton, physician lead, Pacific Northwest Division of Family Practice.
Finding out more information about community services that you can find in your community is as easy as clicking on a spot on the FETCH Map, which provides a list of services available in each location.
The Prince Rupert region is home to twelve pages of service information the North Coast options providing for a wide range of information on health, government services, crisis intervention, housing and many more areas of service delivery.
You can access the full Pacific Northwest FETCH system through the interactive map from the website here.
As well as launching the new information portal, the Pacific Northwest Division of Family practice is conducting a survey related to the new information site, with those that participate entered in a draw to win an iPad mini.
The link to participate in the survey can be found here
A bit more background on the information service can be found from this media release that accompanied the launch of the information portal.
