The group which organizes the Annual Children's festival in March and Seafest in June, as well as Canada Day celebrations and Winterfest is holding their Annual General Meeting later this month, with the hope that residents of the city will hear the call for support.
Last winter, volunteer fatigue finally overcame the core group of those who plan the city's four main festivals, with a number of waterfront events related to Winterfest having to be cancelled, owing to lack of volunteers for the night time events.
With the first of the events for 2018 less than a month away, securing some extra hands, along with some new ideas will be of key importance for the Special Events Society.
The AGM takes place on Tuesday, February 20th at 7PM, with members and newcomers to the organization to gather in the Breakfast Room of the Prestige Hotel at Sixth Street and Second Avenue West.
Some background on the Board of Directors for the Special Events Society is available here, while notes on volunteer opportunities with the organization can be reviewed here.
You can learn more about the work that the group does in the community from their website and Facebook page.
