MLA's Week: November 5-8, 2018

The themes of electoral reform made for much of the work of the two Northwest BC MLA's this week.

Though for the most part, the bulk of that engagement came through the two MLA's social media feeds which were full of point/counter point observations on the issue over the course of the last five days or so.

The focus on the current mail in vote was part of a week that saw the electoral reform debate increase in volume, that  thanks in part to the efforts of Premier John Horgan and Liberal leader Andrew Wilkinson.

This was Debate week for the two, with a thirty minute opportunity Thursday made available by the CBC and Global BC for both to share their talking points on the referendum process.

As for the work of the two Northwest MLA's in the Legislature,

Ms. Rice, spoke once in the Legislature Chamber this week, delivering a presentation related to the theme of trades training opportunities

On the week, Ms Rice was listed once in the accounts of the sessions of the Legislature from November 5 to November 8.

Her notes coming on Tuesday morning with a review the growing list of trades training programs at colleges and other institutions across the province.

The North Coast MLA is also a permanent member of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, serving as the convener of that forum.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross was mentioned once for his work in the Legislature from November 5 to November 8.

The Skeena MLA explored some themes related to the NDP government's new Environmental Assessment process (the details of which are available here), with debate getting underway this week on the new legislation proposed by the Horgan government.

Ellis Ross calls for more clarity on EA process than what NDP government has put forward

Mr. Ross is also a permanent member of the Standing Committee on Legislative Initiatives.
