Swimmers look to make a splash at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre this weekend

This evening marks the start of three days of competitive swimming at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre as the Prince Rupert Amateur Swim Club hosts one of the first regional swim meets of the season.

The events get underway from 6 to 8:30 tonight, with a full day in the pool ahead on Saturday from 9 to 5:30, the event wraps up Sunday as the Swimmers hit the pool for three hours from 9AM to Noon

The meet is open to all swimmers from Class 2 to Class 6 and will bring participants from around the Northwest and beyond to town to showcase their speed and skills in the pool.

For those who may be thinking of registering their children in Swimming, the event makes for a good introduction to the program that is offered and you can probably find out more about the Rupert Rapids from those in attendance.

The Club can always use more volunteers, so if you have some time this weekend check in to see if they need any help to keep the meet in the swim of things.

Find out more about the Rupert Rapids from their website.

As a result of this weekend's event, the City of Prince Rupert Recreation Department has noted that the pool will be closed to the public until 4 PM on Sunday, this will not affect the Fitness Centre however.
