The City of Prince Rupert is set to accept Bids for an overhaul of the Recreation Centre's Boiler infrastructure, posting the call for Bids to the provincially hosted BC Bid website last week.
The scope of the Boiler Upgrade Project notes the elements involved towards the replacement of the boiler system and controls at the Recreation facility.
Project to include all equipment, material, and labour to replace the following:
A. Replacing the two existing Volcano hot water heating boilers
B. Replacing the DHW Storage Tank
C. Installing Isolation Valves to pool boiler pipe-work for future connections to the heating system
D. Installing Isolation Valves to heating boiler pipe-work for future connection to pool heating system
The City will host an information meeting for prospective bid applicants on Thursday March 12 at Noon hour, which will include an overview of the Project and opportunity to examine the Civic Centre complex.
The timeline for the Project would see it take place this Spring and Summer, tied in partially to the annual Shutdown of the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre, with the completion of the work desired by August 28th.
The city first posted a call for bids in March of 2019, seeking designs for the replacement program for the Recreation centre.
The need for replacement was delivered in a presentation by David Geronazzo, the City's Director of Recreation and Community Services back in January of 2019.
The deadline for interested applicants in the 2020 process comes up on March 26th.
