Advance polls open today, with a seven day window for early voting in Prince Rupert area

The doors to the old Farwest Sports location on First Avenue West opened to public voting this morning at 8 AM, the first of seven days of advance voting opportunities for Prince Rupert residents that will wrap up on October 21st.

The advance polls are open from 8 AM to 8 PM with COVID measures in place for those who stop in to cast a ballot, local Elections BC officials are ready to share those requirements with you. 

For those who are ill or are currently self isolating, more voting options can also be discussed with Elections BC officials, you can contact them at 1-800-661-8683.

Delivery by mail of General Voting Cards is underway across the region for those who have registered to vote, and if you have received yours, you are asked to bring it with you when you go to cast your ballot.

Those cards also list the locations around the North Coast Riding where advance voting is taking place, from the First Avenue West storefront in Prince Rupert to two locations on Haida Gwaii in Masset and Queen Charlotte City, as well as Bella Bella and Bella Coola.

General Election Day arrives on Saturday, October 24th and in Prince Rupert the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre will be the location to vote, with polls open from 8AM to 8PM.

For those who have requested a Mail-in ballot for the 2020 election, you are reminded that your ballots must be received by Elections BC officials by voting day October 24th, so mailing yours in as soon as possible is your best step towards participating in the democratic process.

Jody Craven -- Libertarian Party
Roy Jones Junior -- BC Liberals
Jennifer Rice -- New Democratic Party (incumbent MLA)
