Community Safety built on a Foundation of Community Funding

A much needed improvement for local rescue response was revealed
on Saturday, with a new Command Truck now in the possession of the
Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue Organization

The latest in technology for Search and Rescue organizations in the Northwest was on display Saturday, with the official debate for the new Command Vehicle for the Prince Rupert Ground Search and Rescue organization, a welcome upgrade from the days of tents that made for command posts of the past.

In an update on the Saturday event, some background on the latest addition to support for the local group was provided, which has the Prince Rupert organziation following the lead of other SAR groups across the Northwest.

Modelled on proven designs used by other Search and Rescue teams in Northwest BC, the new mobile command centre enhances PRGSAR’s ability to provide critical support during emergencies.

It is equipped with the communications devices necessary to coordinate a search and rescue operation, allowing the team to stay connected with other organizations and respond to events more rapidly.

Equipment and supplies used in search and rescue taskings can now be stored in the vehicle, ready to be used at any time. -- From a PRPA update on Community Funding from Monday

The funding push for the new Command vehicle a true community spirit event, one which had its start a few years ago with some fundraisers launched by the Cassiar Cannery, followed by other community events.

The long road for fundraising for the
Prince Rupert Ground SAR began in
March of 2019

Along with some provincial funding, the big push however came through a familiar funding opportunity in the region that of the Prince Rupert Port Authority's Community Fund that provided for a $123,000 contribution

The Community Fund  has been instrumental in recent years in helping a number of regional Search and Rescue groups get the valuable equipment that they need to do the work that we ask of them.

Among some of there recent funding delivered by the Prince Rupert Port Authority Fund, the list of groups to benefit include:
