Weekend events just the start of a busy period of activities for residents to take in

Saturday kicks off what is going to be a busy period of community events for the Prince Rupert and Port Edward area as we move into the summer and a chance to get out and renew our acquaintances with our neighbours. 

Many of the activities making for a good lead in towards Father's Day on Sunday.

Tomorrow finds two big events of note, the first is in Port Edward where the District is putting on a Community picnic. 

Those looking to share in on the fun can drop by the Community Hall and park area from 2-5 PM.

Saturday also finds the Seal Cove area as the place to be with an event called Solstice at Seal Cove to take place from Noon through to 7PM

The Day with celebrates 101 years of aviation in Prince Rupert features historical exhibits and Art Show and Sale, along with a Classic car show and shine, the night is capped off by concert with Jackie and the Beavers laying down the vibes for the evening.

Saturday also has something for those looking to learn more about Basket making, with a Willow Basket Workshop planned for the Prince Rupert Library from 9Am-5PM 

The weekend serves as the warm up act for Tuesday's National Indigenous Day which will see Prince Rupert residents and visitors descend on the Rotary Waterfront Park area for the eight hours of events from Noon to 8PM.

Through the month the Prince Rupert SPCA is taking part in the Lock-In for Love an opportunity to raise funds for the local shelter, which already has one Councillor, Barry Cunningham ready to be tossed in the brig to aid the cause. He shared word of the initiative as part of Monday's Council Session.

Those looking to celebrate Fete National, St. Jean Baptiste Day will have to take a road trip with AFFNO set to celebrate the 24th of June in Terrace this year. Find out more on that event here.

Looking just a bit further down the road, the annual Canada Day celebrations return to Mariner's Park on July 1st, with Prince Rupert Special Events putting tougher a program for community celebration as we move fully into summer mode.
