Fencing goes up around proposed Civic Operations building on Portage Road, though no timeline for project announced as of yet

Fencing has gone up around the perimeter of the old McCarthy

There seem to be some signs of progress towards development of the new Civic Operations facility in the old McCarthy GM auto dealership building, with some fencing recently going up around the perimeter of the Portage Road structure.

The property was identified the Mayor  Lee Brain as the solution for the need for better facilities for the city's Operations workers, the mayor making note of the project as part of his State of the City presentation of the summer.

The City announced their interest in the long closed automobile dealership back in March, when they noted of their plan to lease the facility, with an option to buy at a later date.

The last estimate towards the cost of renovations for the facility was said to be in the range of 750,000 dollars, which would be put towards what Operations Director Richard Pucci described as some significant upgrades.

As we noted last month, there haven't been any updates on the progress for the renovations since the Mayor's June showcase event. 

And with time running out for the current council collective for their term of office, hopefully an update towards a timeline for the project comes in before the current Council members head off to their re-election campaigns.
