Daybreak North to host forum on LNG on Wednesday

It's the one economic topic that seems to be driving much of the Prince Rupert discussion these days. A conversation topic which depending on who you talk to, is either the wished upon pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, a sign of some dark foreboding future, or something in the middle.

On Wednesday, the CBC's Daybreak North will attempt to add some insight into the debate with an interesting forum planned for the Prince Rupert Library.

Hosted by Daybreak North's Carolina de Ryk and George Baker, the guest line up for Wednesday night offers a cross section of viewpoints and observations on what LNG may mean for the region, should the much anticipated development of the industry come to be on the North Coast.

Scheduled to be on hand for Wednesday's forum are Prince Rupert Port Authority President and CEO Don Krusel, Herb Pond from Prince Rupert LNG, MLA Jennifer Rice and Prince Rupert based Oceanographer Barb Faggetter.

The two hour forum will offer up to the public some background information on the prospects of LNG in the region, as well as to examine items of concern that some in the Northwest have regarding that development.

The working theme for the forum as outlined on the Facebook page created for the event is: Liquefied Natural Gas: Economic Salvation or Environmental Disaster?
