Note Oct 17: Heavy Rainfall Warning in effect for Terrace/Kitimat
Gale Warnings in effect off shore Haida Gwaii
Another October storm is making its way towards both Haida Gwaii and the North Coast, one which features winds of 90 plus km/h and a rather extensive amount of rainfall to come with it.
The nature of the oncoming weather system is such that Environment Canada has issued three weather alerts for the region.
One for Haida Gwaii (see here) and the other for inland sections of the North Coast (see here)
For the moment the bulk of the rainfall which will be somewhere between 70 and 100 mm is destined to swing south, with the Kitimat area to feel the bulk of the onshore flow when it arrives.
Still, for the coastal areas of the North Coast, the evening and overnight will be one featuring heavy rain at times and gusts of wind ranging from 70 to 90 km/h are expected.
Environment Canada also issued a Special weather statement for the Coastal areas shortly after 1 PM today.
With the storm approaching for the evening and into Friday, making the proper preparations around home through the afternoon could make for less trouble in the overnight period.
