MLA's week, March 7-10, 2016
This week made for a busy four days of discussion and debate for the North Coast's MLA, with Ms. Rice involved in a number of different topics through the four days from the Legislatures calendar.
As we do at the end of each week of the Legislature session, we outline some of the main notes of interest from the North Coast MLA's work week.
Ms Rice was listed five times in the archive of participants for the ten sessions of the Legislature in the House, or for those listings related to her work as part of House Committees for the week of March 7-10.
Monday Ms. Rice had two presentations for the Legislature, in the morning she returned to her concerns related to the testing of water in the schools of the Northwest and in the evening addressed disability issues and Red tape reduction.

As part of the morning Question Period on Tuesday, the North Coast MLA offered a short interjection into the discussion on funding for sexual assault victims, noting that funding should be directed towards Northern British Columbia, particularly for the Highway 16 corridor.
During the Wednesday afternoon session, Ms. Rice outlined for the Legislature how she conducted her own tests on water at some social housing units in Prince Rupert, finding high levels of lead in the water. From that review, she renewed her call for further testing in the Northwest of schools and other public facilities.

On Thursday morning Ms. Rice celebrated the success of this years Chamber of Commerce Awards in Prince Rupert and noted for the Legislature the list of winners for the yearly honours.

Ms Rice is also a member of the Committee on Children and Youth, however that Committee did not meet this week.
Other notes of interest to the Northwest out of the Legislature last week included the announcement of nine million dollars in funding for the Tsimshian Roundtable initiative.

As well as an an appearance by Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Rustad on the Voice of BC program, with the recent Tsimshian agreement and a review of the Lelu Island LNG project and protest among the topics over the full hour of the show.
