Rainmakers off to strong start at Vancouver College's Emerald Tourney
The Charles Hays Senior Rainmakers made a good first impression as they took to the court in the 2019 Emerald Tournament hosted by Vancouver College, with the Makers' putting out a strong display of offensive power in their debut match up with Lord Tweedsmuir.
The Rainmakers came out fast and quickly built what became an insurmountable lead as the full forty minutes played out, using their size speed and smart positional play to set the pace for an 89 to 60 victory over the Surrey team.
And while Lord Tweedsmuir would hang in and pick away at the Rainmaker lead, anytime that they showed signs of putting on a push, the Charles Hays five would shut it down with some strong defensive play.
The Rainmakers played near error free ball for much of the game, with only the odd misdirected pass or giveaway making for much in the way of trouble.
The Charles Hays squad made use of some smart ball handling and clock management to ensure that the Panthers never rally had an opportunity to make a run to knock down the large leads that the Rainmakers would build on the night.
By the Quarter the results show the scope of the Rainmaker domination of the court in game one.

So inspiring to watch our small town boys go toe-to-toe with all these big 4A Lower Mainland squads. They are not only holding their own, they are showing these schools how to play a total team game. Last night's 88-69 dismantling of Kitsilano was just another example of the tenacious team game Coach Bishop has these boys playing. This is a much improved team from the one that was here for the No Regrets Tournament in early December. Keep it up boys and looking forward to tonight's final.
