Tire rules remain in effect in many NW areas until April 30th |
The Ministry of Transportation has been getting the word out that in many jurisdictions in British Columbia the Winter Tire rule remains in effect until April 30th, and Northern BC is very much part of that area of notice.
As the map below indicates, outside of the coastal area near Prince Rupert, Kitimat and the Nass anyone travelling east beyond Terrace and into the Bulkley and Nechako Valleys will need to keep their winter tires on for just a few more weeks.
The Ministry of Transportation also provides some helpful notes on the use of snow tires, chains and other items of use during this driving shoulder season.
As well, with Spring weather very unpredictable, they remind motorists to be sure to check ahead with the Drive BC website to be sure of the latest road conditions before they head out on the highway.
You can access Drive BC's website here, as well as their twitter feed here.
