Northern Health advises SD52 of potential COVID-19 exposure at Lax Keen School

See update notes at bottom of page

A potential COVID exposure to students and staff at Lax Keen Elementary School has been reported by Northern Health with the Health Authority issuing a letter on January 15th, with the full document posted to the School District 52 website.

The exposure notice notes that students and staff may have been in contact with a lab confirmed case between January 7th and 8th.

That advisory for Lax Keen is the only one currently noted by Northern Health, though Notices of additional potential cases have also been reportedly delivered by SD52 to parents and guardians of students at Conrad Elementary and Prince Rupert Middle School.

None of the reported case concerns have been added to the Northern Health data base as of this morning.

The School District followed up on the Northern Health advisory with the letter to parents which notes that the positive case is that of an adult member of the School community and outlines the nature of Contact tracing currently underway, though no details related to the cases of concern have been relayed in the statement..

There so far has been no statement issued by the Prince Rupert and District Teachers Union to their website, the PRDTU has been very active and engaged in recent months on themes of COVID in the schools of the District.

Update:

Northern Health added the Prince Rupert COVID alert to their data base shortly after 9AM. At this time it only identifies the Lax Keen Elementary School exposure.
