Blog Watching: Week ending October 16, 2022

Politics was the focus for much of the week in the lead up to Saturday's Civic Election, with the candidates making their last week dash to collect votes.

Sone seismic activity on Sunday however captured the most attention of the last seven days, as residents from the Seal Cove area over to Graham Avenue and all points in between took note of the medium sized temblor from just north of Lax Kw'alaams.

Also of note from the week, a call for a bit of help from the City's operations department when it comes to sidewalk work,  some job opportunities at City Hall and a visit from NDP leadership candidate David Eby who spoke on housing themes at a number of events in the community.

For those looking for the Election results of Saturday we have the tallies available from the links below:

From the weeks review however, the top item was focused on a sharp but short rumble under the surface of Thanksgiving Day weekend.

Earthquakes Canada reports 4.2 magnitude earthquake for Prince Rupert Sunday night -- Many felt the earth move on the Thanksgiving weekend, while the event passed by others un-noticed. For those from east to west in the city, the reports were mostly of a slight shaking, quickly finished. Among those who apparently did not take note of the seismic shuffle was much of the local media which offered up no reports of the event.     (posted  October 9 , 2022)
