A 4.2 temblor has been reported by Earthquakes Canada for an epicentre just north of Lax Kw'alaams |
The ground rumbled and offered a shake in instances for some residents across Prince Rupert on Sunday evening, with Earthquakes Canada reporting that a 4.2 magnitude quake struck the region just minutes before 11PM.
The notice from Earthquakes Canada notes the epicentre just north of Lax Kw'alaams at the southern tip of the Southeastern Alaska panhandle. That placed the centre of the event 68 kilometres Northwest of Prince Rupert.
So far the USGS website has not listed the temblor, or locations of the epicentre.The seismic event has not as of yet generated any information from Emergency Info BC or notice of any risk of tsunami.
Social media accounts indicate some felt the event, while others in the region did not seem to notice the lived jot which lasted less than five seconds.
