Prince Rupert Harbour scene for weekend environmental response training exercises

Those taking a Saturday walk along the Prince Rupert waterfront may have spotted some activity taking place on the far side of the harbour across from the Waterfront Rotary Park area

The marine activity featured the Canadian Coast Guard and a number of regional partners taking to the water as part of three days of marine response exercises.

In addition to the Coast Guard vessels tasked for the exercise, the program which began on Friday, included members of the Metlaktala First Nation, Gitxaala First Nation, West Coast Marine Response and those on Prince Rupert Port Authority vessels.

Vessels from Western Canada Marine Response Corporation were
also part of the weekend exercise in Prince Rupert

The Saturday session, was surely a more enjoyable one for participants than anything that Sunday may have brought to them.

The Saturday weather making for an enjoyable sunny day on the waters of Prince Rupert Harbour, while Sunday saw one of the first of our heavy rains of the fall arrive through the day.

Follow the Canadian Coast Guard twitter feed, as well as that of the Prince Rupert Port authority for any post exercise photos from the three days on the water.
