The Season of Haunting nears with many Spooktacular events to come

This Halloween will see more ghosts, more goblins and more fun as the first post pandemic Halloween offers up a growing list of events to take in  leading up to October 31st.

Already those travelling around the city at night have probably noticed an increase in home decorations this year, with a growing number of Prince Rupert and area residents taking on the full Halloween experience with some spooktacular efforts to rival what we see at Christmas.

What will be three days full of activities for the North Coast starts with the return on Halloween Weekend of the Terror at the Cannery on Saturday October 29th, where Port Edward's signature tourism site makes for the spookiest of backdrops for your Halloween Adventure.

The Family Friendly event runs from 12Noon to 4 PM at the North Pacific Cannery Historical site which is about a twenty five minute drive from Prince Rupert through Port Edward.

The popular Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Youth Haunted House kicks off the weekend of Halloween events on Friday night of the 28th.  (changed from original date of the 29th)

The creative minds at the Nisga'a Hall turn the facility into a House of adventure and thrills and maybe a few chills from 6 to 9 all in aid of the Gitmaxmak'ay Nisga'a Youth Program.

Prince Rupert's Rugby Club is also hosting they own event for those 18 plus on Friday night at the Highlighter Plaza Hotel

Saturday  offers up a number of evening events for adults, with many of the city's bars and lounges hosing halloween themed nights, as well as for some social events taking place at area Halls.

More events mark Halloween on the 31st, with Hecate Strait hosting an afternoon Open House

PetValue  ishosting a Halloween Party at Rotary Wasterfron Park from 6-8 PM with a Pet parade among their activities for the night.

The main event of Halloween 2022, of course will be the traditional Halloweenfest at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre. The gathering spot for all of Prince Rupert and areas Witches and Warlocks, Ghosts and Goblins and all other creatures of the night.

The always well attended event makes its return after two years of COVID with many of the past favourite activities back for the enjoyment of the youth of the Prince Rupert region.

The night promises Games, Prizes, Candy and the popular Costume Parade at 6:15 PM following by the HalloweenFest Fireworks show which will have am 8:15PM start, depending on Prince Rupert's always unpredictable weather.

The viewing point for the show not far from the Civic Centre with the Parking Lot and PRMS field areas offering the best view of the fireworks as they explode to the Southwest with Mount Hays as the backdrop.

The Earl Mah Aquatic Centre is also making plans for the season of haunting with two swim opportunities ahead the first on Sunday, October 30th from 2 to 4 PM, the Second Halloween evening is a Teen Swim for those from Ages 13 to 18 years of age that takes place from 630 - 8:30PM.

The Civic Centre events, as they have in the past, have benefited by the generosity of a number of Prince Rupert Groups and organizations as well as local businesses who all have contributed to help relaunch the popular event in 2022.

The organizers also note that they could use a few more volunteers for HalloweenFest 2022, so if you can lend a hand, give them a call at 250-62GHOST (250-624-4678)
