All Political trails led to Crane's Crossing on Wednesday

NDP leadership candidate David Eby's whirlwind tour of the Prince Rupert area had the hopeful NDP leader meeting with party members, local politicians and residents of the community on Wednesday, with one of his first stops a tour of the Crane's Crossing Shelter and Supportive Housing facility at Five Corners.

Eby who as Housing minister has steered many of the supportive housing projects towards a finish line over the course of the last few years, met with some of the members of the current Prince Rupert City Council at the site. The group checking into the process of the somewhat delayed housing complex.

His tour of the Northwest and stopover in Prince Rucker comes in the wake of a platform program on housing which has provided a very blue print for how the province would keep watch over housing issues and encourage development across the province,

Following the gathering, some of the city's council members made the Housing elements their focus for social media shout outs from their opportunity to speak with Mr. Eby. 

One of the updates, that from Council Nick Adey observed on the progress of the project, which should be ready to accept residents sometime in November.

The main event for the day however came later in the evening, when Eby and North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice hosted a meet the leadership candidate session at the Third Avenue Royal Canadian Legion.

Ms. Rice provided the synopsis of the gathering through her social media stream, noting of some of the areas of discussion with those in attendance, among the topics, health care, Port Property Taxes,, issues of note for Seniors and the Grow OP situation in the city. 

There was also a significant bit of focus on the current housing challenges in the community.

Two of the four Mayoralty candidates had comments to follow up on their chance to meed with David Eby, with both Herb Pond and Chrystopher Thompson making note of the visit.
