McBride Street Closure for Tuesday marks near end to months long infrastructure project

Motorists will need to make alternate travel pathways to
the downtown core on Tuesday as the City closed
all lanes of McBride as part of the ongoing work

Providing the weather Gods don't interfere, Prince Rupert motorists may soon be travelling on all lanes of the city's main north-south thoroughfare of McBride Street.

In recent days Adventure Construction has been building the asphalt base for the east side lanes, with tomorrow noted by the City of Prince Rupert as the  day for what could be the final burst of paving work require to complete the project..

Towards that work, the City has advised that the road will be closed from Third Avenue West to Sixth Avenue West from 7 AM onwards.

The long running project began in June with a waterman break under the busy city street near Saanich Plumbing, from there a major reconstruction process got underway, with new sidewalks, water and road infrastructure now in place for a three block area.

Any updates on tomorrow's plans can be found through the city's Social media feed.

You can track the history of the work from our Civic Operations Archive.
