The British Columbia Legislature is about to close the Job competition for a post that will watch over provincial appointments to ensure that the application of merit principles is in place as part of appointments to the BC public Service.
Today marks the deadline for applications for the part-time position of Merit Commissioner, the successful applicant for the post that is Non-partisan is tasked as an independent officer of the Legislature responsible for monitoring the application of the merit principle to provincial public service appointments by conducting audits of appointments and reporting results.
The position also monitors the application of government practices, policies and standards to eligible dismissals. The Commissioner’s mandate and responsibilities are provided by the Public Service Act.
