Highway 16 (Now Reopened) between Terrace and Prince Rupert owing to flooding

Highway 16 is CLOSED in a stretch from Exstew to the Rail Crossing


Update: Drive B C has advised that the highway has now reopened, with single alternating traffic in the affected area. (see notice here)

While the Atmospheric River did not inflict as much misery on Prince Rupert as originally anticipated, further to the east the full effect of the Wednesday rainfall has resulted in the Closure of Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert.

The flooding situation has taken place between the Railway Crossing and the Exstew Gate area of Highway 16, located 36 kilometres west of Terrace

Drive BC reported the Closure of the Highway in the Overnight period, with the next update on its status to come at 8AM

Yesterday was just the start of some extensive rains to come with Friday and Saturday anticipated to deliver more precipitation to the North Coast inland and coastal areas.
