In their year end review for Youth Soccer Participant the PRYSA has noted of some the highlights for 2022.
Starting on the pitch, we saw tremendous numbers in the U5/U6/U8/U10 outdoor divisions which were 90% full. Prince Rupert is now home to over 70 Canada Soccer Grassroots certified coaches, these certified coaches will create the best possible learning and development environment for our players. Our inaugural Futsal Friday program has been a success this fall, with 80 players playing indoors.Towards the off the field work, the PRYSA also reviewed some of their work to help grow the game, as well as the introduction of a Bursary program at Charles Hays Secondary School.
Off the pitch, saw us secure close to $40,000 in grants which will help us secure long term future investment in facilities, coaching and officiating development. We submitted our Quality Soccer Accreditation to BC Soccer. A graduating soccer player from CHSS received our very first annual bursary.
As they note, the Futsal Friday program launched this fall, the first step of hopes to keep the sport prominent in the off season from the outdoor games of the Spring.
You can learn more about the Futsal program from our notes of September.
Our look at the launch of the Bursary program with CHSS can be reviewed here.
Much of the success for the 2022 season goes to the volunteers, coaches and sponsoers who have assisted in bringing the sport back to its prominence in the local youth sports collective.
