Looking better than ever at 35, the Lester Centre is hosting three nights of Celebrations this week |
It'a a big birthday blast for one of the city's most popular institutions, as the Lester Centre for the Arts turns 35 with three nights of showcase entertainment here to get the party started.
The Gala Celebrations featuring everything North Coast residents may be looking for when it comes to a night out, from Dance and Theatre, Magic and Music, the showbills for October 13 to 15 provided glimpse of the nights of entertainment ahead.
The Three nights open with Theatre and Dance on the list, the evening a showcase of some of the talented members of community.
Included in the Thursday evening presentation:
The Dance Academy of Prince Rupert to the Harbour Theatre Society, from the Amago'ot Gyetm Maaxii dancers to a performance from Charles Hays Secondary School's drama department, this show has a variety of entertainment for everyone.
Friday night makes for Magic and Illusion, with Chris Funk to take to the stage for a Night of Wonder and Magic:
Chris Funk’s show is an engaging and visceral multimedia experience that has audiences talking and scratching their heads for years to come. Chris has pioneered the use of instruments like the violin, guitar, flute and more into his illusions.Saturday Night brings down the curtain on the three night stand of celebration, as the Ring System Studio and one of the legends of Prince Rupert's music scene Triple Bypass hit the stage to rock out the final bit of the thirty five year celebrations.
Back in front of a live audience for the first time since 1983 (or so it seems), local legends Triple Bypass will headline this night of rock and roll at the Lester Centre for the final night of our 35th anniversary gala. Come rock the roof off the joint with Paul, Brian, and Mark and special guests! Opening for Triple Bypass will be the students from Ring System Studios. Always a good show, you'll see some of the up-and-coming musical talent in Prince Rupert.
As the weekend showcase gets closer, so too is some of the anticipation for the event, including a live broadcast from CBC Daybreak this week,
There's even a celebration Ale, courtesy of Prince Rupert's Wheelhouse Brewing Company to go with the thirty five years of entertainment from the Lester Centre.
And for those looking for a souvenir of the Thirty five year milestone, there's swag available each night.
Keep up with what's planned through the Lester Centre Social media feed.
