The quiet atmosphere of the Seal Cove Salt Marsh today, probably will be a little more animated come Saturday as the popular East Side recreation area plays host once again to the annual observation for Prince Rupert's Earth Day.
As we noted earlier this month, the three hour Community Celebration takes place from Noon to 3 PM on Saturday, with a range of events and activities lined up for those stopping by the newest urban oasis in the community.
Some new features and the more familiar areas of the Seal CoveSalt Marsh are ready for visitors as part of Earth Day 2023 |
In preparation for Saturday's event, some volunteers from the Prince Rupert Port Authority and AltaGas got together earlier this week to give the Salt Marsh area and adjacent Rushbrook Trail some attention.
Removing rubbish from the area, the combined work party noted that they had collected 123 pounds of trash as part of their community clean up efforts on Tuesday.
The Earth Day Program is hosted by the City of Prince Rupert, Prince Rupert Port Authority and North Coast Ecology Centre Society.
You can follow both the City of Prince Rupert Social Media feed and that of the Prince Rupert Port Authority for updates as Earth Day gets closer.
