May Training for PRFD keeps skills sharp for local firefighters

Members of the Prince Rupert Fire Rescue Department have made the most out of the sunny weather of may to work on some training programs, the department members expanding their training on rescues and resuscitation  themes.

At the start of May they members were learning more about the Lucas 3 Chest compressions system.

The last week took Fire Crews to the McKay Street area, where they conducted training by making use of the now closed townhouses on site, the units serving as a training ground for rescue techniques.

Earlier this month, Recruitment was the focus, as Chief Jeff Beckwith provided an update for City Council on the stages of the application process for openings with the PRFD.

The Department recently closed applications at the end of April for a Firefighter position at the First Avenue West Fire Hall.

The recently put out the Help Wanted call for a Deputy Fire Chief posting.
