The one year anniversary today of the murder of Patti Forman at the Ocean Centre Mall was observed by North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice on Monday at the BC Legislature.
During the Statements portion of the Monday session the MLA delivered a commemoration of Ms Forman's life cut short by the violence in Prince Rupert one year ago.
The Legislature statement included notice of a Proclamation from the Province setting November 21, 2023 as Patricia Forman Day in the province of British Columbia.
"Whether you were close family and friends or whether you were ten degrees removed from both the victims, we all felt it, it was very painful and we've all had grief to process, so I'd like this House to join me as we proclaim a very important special day for Patty.
Whereas on November 21, 2022, Patricia, or Patty, a long-serving public servant in the Ministry of Children and Family Development was killed on her way to work, a victim of intimate partner violence."
The horrific incident of one year ago had a deep impact on many in Prince Rupert, with the nature of the violence noted across British Columbia and Canada at the time.
