Metro Ports Canada has been selected to provide the operational aspects of the pellet plant shipment terminal, the international marine services company which is based in Newfoundland and Labrador, will provide the stevedoring and terminal services that will load pellets to the Panamax class of vessels that will call on the Terminal.
Metro Ports Canada operates terminals across the USA, the Prince Rupert operation will be their first on Canada's West Coast.
The Westview Terminal will featured a high speed railcar unloading system, state of the art safety and monitoring systems and a high capacity ship loader. The plant has been engineered and designed to meet strict environmental standards.
When the 42 million dollar plant moves into its operational phase, scheduled for later this year, it will have the capacity to export two million tonnes of wood pellets per year.
The rising collection of storage bins on the Westview shoreline highlights how close the facility is in moving towards operations. They currently have a posting for career opportunities in the trades posted to the Pinnacle Pellet website.
