The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Victoria received the call for assistance, asking for an evacuation to hospital for a crew member who was experiencing a possible medical condition. A call that brought the Cormorant from the 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron at Comox to the region, conducting a rescue extraction that proved challenging owing to the assembled equipment of masts, antennas and rigging that the fishing boat featured.
The airlifted crew member was taken to hospital in Port Hardy for further observation.

It was the second time in the last week that a rescue mission was launched from Comox for waters off of Port Hardy, in late July, a pleasure boat became lost in the coastal fog that has plagued both Northern Vancouver Island and the North Coast in the last month.
In that tasking, the Rescue Centre dispatched the crew of an RCAF Buffalo Search and Rescue plane, to lend assistance to the six people on a pleasure craft lost in the fog on July 29th, the plane conducted the search for the craft, turning over the escort duties to the Coast Guard vessel Cape Sutil when it arrived in the search area to bring the pleasure craft back to port.
