Accumulations through the day, before the rains wash it all away

The first significant cold snap of the season will break by Wednesday afternoon, but not before residents of the North Coast get a chance to brush up on their shovelling skills.

With a low pressure front preparing to move across the North Coast tonight, Environment Canada has issued a Snowfall Warning for Coastal sections of the North Coast.

The weather service is calling for a significant snowfall with flurries through the day, with the heaviest of accumulation arriving tonight. Environment Canada is calling for an anticipated 15 cm or more of snow to fall before the system has moved through.

What does fall most likely won't stay long however, as warmer temperatures and some impressive rainfall totals are to come our way by Thursday, that oncoming system will carry us through into the weekend.

Wednesday will be the shoulder day with 3 cm of snow expected early in the day, followed by 30 mm of rain starting in the afternoon. Thursday brings 50 plus mm of rain, Friday  has 15 mm rain expected and Saturday brings 35 mm of rain as temperatures reach up to 8 degrees each day.

You can follow the weather trends from either the Environment Canada website or the Weather Network portal (change the city option for forecasts for inland communities)

Updates for road conditions across the region can be found from the Drive BC website and twitter feed.
