Aqua van once again a hit in Prince Rupert

Inquisitive students and as the photo to the left would show, an adult or two have been making the most of a Northwest tour for the Vancouver Aquarium's popular Aqua Van program, with the travelling marine science lab making the rounds of Prince Rupert's schools through the week.

The program is designed to connect students with Marine Life and features two streams of education and fun programs, split into Primary and Intermediate programs and a more advanced presentation for the Secondary Grades.

This years tour of the province is assisted by BC Hydro and BG Canada, with BG's lCommunity Relations Manger Herb Pond taking an active interest in the van's visit with SD52.

week as the Aquavan made its tour 

Caitlin Birdsall, who is the host of the Vancouver Aquarium's North Coast initiative has been sending out twitter notes through the week as the tour made the rounds of the city's schools.

A section of the Vancouver Aquarium website is dedicated towards the research that Ms. Birdsall is  conducting in the region, you can review some of that work here.

Having taken the project to the city's school's this week, the Aquavan wraps up its North Coast journey with a Community Day at Northwest Community College on Sunday from 10 until 2.

CFTK TV featured the Aquavan journey as part of last evening's newscast, highlighting the fun experience that local students have been enjoying over the last four days.

While it's time on the North Coast may soon be coming to an end, the Aquavan will be hitting the road to other communities around the Northwest, their journey to this part of the province continues on until the middle of October.
