Left/Right Narrative taking hold in Skeena-Bulkley Valley campaign

The road towards the Federal election in October, will no doubt see an accelerated pace once the Labour Day weekend is behind us.

And so far, other than the door knocking and community events that candidates have attended over the summer, the bulk of the commentary from the campaign is being delivered through the candidates social media offerings

A forum which has seen some of the candidates providing for their musings on a more frequent basis than others

As the summer comes to an end, the themes of the campaign in Skeena-Bulkley Valley are starting to show some clear lines of division and most of the split is either breaking to the Left or the Right of the political spectrum.

Some of the message making of late seems to highlight that divide in the region, most notably with Conservative candidate Claire Rattée who has spoken often through her social media posts of 'leftists policies' and how she perceives the damage that they have done.

People's Party of Canada candidate Jody Craven has not shared many of his own themes on the campaign as of yet, but a quick review of the material on his Facbeook page explores a range of items from the national office which certainly place their message to the right of the centre in Canadian politics.

Likewise, Rod Taylor, the perennial Christian Heritage Party candidate in Skeena-Bulkley Valley has a Facebook portal that mostly relays the talking points from the national office. Many of them are familiar themes for the party and some may generate some strong reaction across the Northwest  as the campaign moves forward.

For the Green Party candidate Mike Sawyer, while he has started to explore some of the other elements of the political debate  in recent days, the primary theme of his campaign so far has focused on environmental concerns.

The potential threat of some of the NDP support bleeding away towards the Green Party is something that the national party has been concerned about as the campaign gets underway. And with the environment a key element of that Green agenda, NDP candidate Taylor Bahcrach who already was a strong advocate on environmental issues has made sure that his message has been delivered in recent weeks.

As for the Liberals, Dave Birdi has had few political concepts to share through his social media presentation so far. Leaving us with the July 24th announcement of the start of his campaign to make for the only introduction to some of his themes for the residents of Skeena-Bulkley Valley.

Things will no doubt move into a higher gear following Labour Day as the six candidates travel across the riding a number of times to get out their messages and seek your vote in October.
