The RFP was posted to the BC Bid website today and makes note of both the current waste collection program and the potential for the City to introduce a curb-side recycling program at some point in the future.
The City of Prince Rupert currently operates a curbside pickup program within the City limits for the collection of solid waste, and is pursuing the possibility of implementing a curbside recycling program in the near future.
The successful proponent will procure the City with a collection vehicle which serves and improves the City’s existing collection practices while enabling further upgrades in the future.
The purchase of the vehicle is one of a number of objectives outlined by the City in this years Annual Report which was released earlier this summer.
The timeline for applicants has a deadline for any questions set for September 13th, with the Closing Date following one week later at 2 PM on September 20th.
The Notice of Award will be made on September 25th, with any final notice to proceed to come on September 30th.
In addition to the supply of the vehicle, the successful applicant will be required to provide a training and support plan, as well as an equipment warranty and parts and service plan.

While discussed on occasion at City Council, so far no details have been provided as to when the City may move forward on the delivery of a curb side recycling program, or what such a program may look like for community residents.
